100 year old ukrainian recipes from
our baba's homestead
My ancestors came to Canada from Valva, Ukraine in 1909 and homesteaded in Foam Lake, SK. My father continued to farm the land with his father Wasyl and brothers until his retirement in 2000. The true inspiration for this culinary venture and naming right came from summers on the farm with my Baba . She was a tenacious, hardworking woman and a wonderful cook. Our perogies are a tribute to our dear Baba Mary and each one is pinched with love in the traditional & true triangle shapes!

"We come from Good Stock" and our Rural Roots also kindly pay tribute to my Grandma Phyllis MacDonald Elmy whose love of baking you will find in our baked recipes; to Grandpa Morley Elmy who instilled his love of horses in me by keeping my horses at his farm and toting my to all the fairs in the area to compete in horse showing. Their dedication to high quality fast food was the innovation for the chicken we serve!

Our friends own a Garlic Ranch in Saskatchewan and we are pleased to offer their delicious Dam Good Garlic spice blends
And of course, being situated in the Greenhouse Capital, we purchase as many vegetables and saskatoons as we can right here!
